Privacy Policy

We collect only the information needed to provide personalized movie recommendations:

• Account information: your email address and (if you sign in with Google) your name and profile photo.
• Taste preferences: the genres, moods, and favorite movies you choose during onboarding.
• Movie check history: the movies you analyze, the AI-generated match results, your watchlist, and any post-watch ratings you submit.
• Social activity: public profile data (username, bio, avatar), follow relationships, and checks you choose to share.

Your data is used solely to:

• Generate personalized movie match scores and recommendations
• Maintain your account, history, watchlist, and social connections
• Improve the accuracy of future predictions based on your ratings
• Communicate essential account or service updates

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or any third party.

PreScree relies on a small number of trusted services to operate:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI-powered movie analysis
• TMDB (The Movie Database) — movie metadata, posters, and trailers
• Google — optional sign-in via OAuth
• Vercel — application hosting

Each provider operates under its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data necessary for them to perform their function (e.g. your movie preferences are sent to Claude when generating an analysis).

We use cookies to keep you signed in (via Supabase auth) and local browser storage to cache movie posters so the app loads faster. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the profile settings page; doing so permanently removes your taste profile, movie checks, watchlist, ratings, and social data from our database. You can also email us to request deletion.

PreScree is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We use industry-standard security practices, including TLS encryption for all data in transit and Supabase Row Level Security to ensure each user can only access their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
